James Cartlidge

James Cartlidge is a post-doctoral researcher whose work draws on phenomenological, existentialist, and post-structuralist philosophy to investigate what it means to be human in the modern, digital age. Much of his recent research focuses on the philosophy and psychology of virtual worlds and video games. James has previously held fellowships at the Institute for Human Sciences (Vienna) and the Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele (Milan), and is currently on a visiting scholarship at the Slovak Academy of Sciences (Bratislava) with a project entitled Caring for the Soul in a Digital Age: Existential Phenomenology, Digital Art, Politics.
